There are 2 ways to deal with this:

You may pour away the water/ pump out the initial 10 pumps which could be water until the thicker consistency starts coming out.
You may shake the bottle to homogenize the mixture.

This does not change the purpose of the lotion and nor should it cause irritation to your skin.
